Integration Groups

We organize groups for people from different academic disciplines. The groups meeting this school year are:

Policy

This group will be a safe and secure place for reasonable dialogue on the underlying ideological and theological issues at play in ethics and policy decisions. Membership would be open to anyone who is interested in exploring public policy questions from a (broadly) Christian perspective, or anyone interested in discussing methodologies and assumptions of social science research. One doesn't even need to come from a pure "social science" discipline, as we have previously had participants from social work, development studies, law, environmental ethics, philosophy, education, etc. The topics of discussion would be chosen according to the interests of the members. Contact for more information.

Science

The science group seeks to guide Christian graduate students studying the sciences in fulfilling their responsibility to integrate Christian truths and values with science, both as a body of knowledge and a process. Discussions and readings explore topics which fall into three primary categories: the integration of Christian truth with scientific truth, the influence that Christian values should have both upon the research process and the development of new technology, and the role that Christians in science play as ambassadors both to the scientific community and the church. More information can be found on the Science Group Page.

Theology

Interested in delving deeper into an area of theology or Christian thought? Then join the Theology Group for an interesting and lively monthly discussion around a set of readings. The topic for the fall is Eastern Orthodoxy. What is it? How did it develop? How does Orthodox belief and practice relate to that of Western Christianity? For the first meeting we'll be reading the first half of Timothy Ware's classic "The Orthodox Church," available on the Web or at local bookstores. Please contact Eric Carlsson at .
